smtphm etc Protocol:SMTP, Server Response:501 5.5.4 Invalid address, Port:25,
Secure (SSL); Yes, Server error;501 Error number 0x800CCC79

and Accountpop xx etc Server pop etc Protocol:pop3,server Response ERR
Command no implemented Port:995, Secure(SSL):Yes,Server Error:0x800CCC90
Error Number 0x800CCC18
My ISP says I'm OK and I can still net - just no e-mail
I'm not very savvy - please help if possible

Hi,

Indicates a problem at the mail server end. You'll have to wait until they
fix it.

Is it possible you have an email stuck in your outbox with an improperly
formatted email address specified? If so, I'd try to delete it and then
close and restart the email program (Outlook?).

This would have been a lot easier to diagnose if you had copied
the entire error message verbatim. Looks like you transcribed
instead of using the right-click copy method. Critical pieces of
information are missing, but I'll give it my best guess.

For the first one, a "501 5.5.4 Invalid address" error typically indicates
that your 'From' address has an invalid syntax, perhaps a trailing space.

For the second, this error is typically caused by having checked
"Logon using Secure Password Authentication" when the server does
not use that feature.

Sorry for incomplete info. I'm very new to this. Thanks for the password
auth. tip - I am receiving now. I tried sending from the outbox and got this:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server error problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'TEST TEST TEST' , Account; 'pophm.sympatico.ca ,
server; 'smtpl.sympatico.ca' , protocol; SMTP, Port: 25, secure (SSL); No,
Socket Error: 10053, Error Number 0x800CCC0F.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Since you were able to send email before and have presumably changed
nothing, as Gary said the problem is probably on the mail server end.
Call your ISP if it continues.
