My computer and my friends computer, same .MKV video file. When i maximise my VLC player quality drops (becomes a tiny bit pixely) while when my friend maximises, quality remains excellent. My computer is recent as well.

I'm wondering if the problem is something to do with monitor or is my computer poor?

Specs:
Intel pentium DC 1.6ghz
2gig of ram
512 graphics card

i dont know my friends specs but his computer is better than mine.

Hang on, so when you play a certain video it looks rubbish, but on your mate's system it runs fine.

Is that it?

1152x864 is my resolution and i don't know my friends i'll ask him ASAP.

The problem I'm having is; when viewing a file in full-screen mode. Exactly the same movie file. On my computer it looks good when it's normal size but when i do full screen, the quality lowers. On my friends computer it looks good in normal size and when he full screens, it retains the quality it had before. I'm wondering what the problem is.

Why don't you match his resolution then?

Or put it at 1280x1024.

1152x864 is a bit of a wierd resolution to have I think.

Oh and the video bit rate should be shown somewhere when you play the file - it will be 'xxx kb/s'. I've never used a VLC Player so you may have to look around.
