Contrary to the very bad advice given by a microsoft "valued" professional....
The burning of ANY disk be it CD or DVD or sending video back to your camera is
a HIGHLY time-dependent process. ANY failure to deliver the data at the
required instant WILL result in a spoilt operation. The effect can range
between a disk that is not readable at all to one that only plays "so far",
with a camera the effect would range between no picture through badly pixilated
to frozen image....duration would depend on how badly your system performed.
There are some pointers in the tutorial section of my website that may help,
but they all basically boil down to having a properly defragmented hard drive
(don't take advice from THAT mvp on what to use....he has already made himself
look silly on that score) and stopping any process or background function that
you have running....that's a little broad, in your case it means stopping the
firewall while you do the job and the antivirus program and disconnect from the
internet and disable completely by select the NONE option any screen saver you
have (They eat up huge amounts of resources) and any of those silly gimmicks
from microsoft...the dancers and things like that.
To delete a file......run the program called WINDOWS EXPLORER, navigate to
where your AVI files are stored and delete the ones you do not want...take note
that if you are running Norton System works you will also need to empty the
Recycle Bin as well as any protected files it has stored. This will remove
quite a bit of rubbish from your system.
When you know more about what you are doing....download the FREE program called
Delete Dross from my website.and watch the short tutorial on how it works while
you are there.....I created the Delete Dross program because I am always
leaving files behind that clog up my system...Delete Dross unlike the search
utility in XP will scan your system at a very high speed and display all of the
files that meet your criteria.....you can then choose which or all of them and
click on Delete....the delete function bypasses the Recycle Bin and the
Protected File area of System Works and does a TRUE delete....and that's why I
suggest you do this when you are a bit more experienced.....the program is
simple but savage...it does not offer option after monotonous option for you to
get out.....I don't want to frighten you...but do take a look.....I and many
hundreds of others who have told me how pleased they are with it use it every
day.
I must fly now...quite literally back to the UK. So if you have any questions
