Poof! IE is gone...

Tried uninstalling IE because of numerous problems, but upon reinstalling I
get
"Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed
on this system.
Setup cannot continue." Yet IE is uninstalled. There is a fix on the
Microsoft site involving editing the registry that gives the direction:

a.. Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled
(REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.

But it does not tell you how to locate the appropriate subkey, and
IsInstalled and Modify were nowhere to be found.

How can I get my IE back!?

What operating system are you using? If Windows XP,

Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
