pointer makes selection w/o click

Pointer will make selection without you clicking, just by
resting at a point. This does not happen everytime which
makes this auto feature even worse. How do you turn this
off.

This has been happening to me too. In addition, when typing an email or document, if the mouse arrow is on top of the text, I often find that I am now typing somewhere in the middle of what I had just typed.

I though I had read that this is caused by ms word but I

Is this on a leptop or desktop computer? If a laptop and you have a
tuochpad, you need to set the palm rest ensitivity and the pressure
sensitivity in the driver.

Go to the Mouse applet in Control Panel. Once there, you should see
various "tabs" across the top. There will be a tab labeled something
like "Device". You should see properties for your touchpad on there,
including sensitivity sliders for accidentally hitting the touchpad
with your palm, etc.
