PNP Problem - USB Mouse

I recently brought a new USB PNP Mouse, it does not require any drivers at
all. But when I plug it into my Sony Vaio laptop, Windows XP Pro SP2 asks for
a USB Mouse Driver, the icon is a yellow question mark. I tried having it
automatically detect the driver and it does not work. What do I do?

I have tried this mouse on a different computer with also Win Xp and it
works fine without drivers and in addition, my old USB PNP mouse works on
this computer and other devices, so the BIOS is set correctly

thanks, I tried that and it didn't work. After I tried those steps, rebooted
and plug my new mouse in, Win XP asked for drivers

There are about five different things to try. Also right-click the
device with the "?" icon, click Properties and see if there's an option
to change/updated the driver.
