plz help....my icons r gone......i use xp.....

i use xp...
I think i accidently deleted all my icons while permenantly
deleting(shift+delete)some other stuff.Now when i go to my desktop all
the applications have a blank icon but it opens and runs properly.Also
the bar that appears on the left side when you open an XP folder(the
blue coloured bar showing tasks,other places,details...)is also
missing.Please help.

2) In XP you have system restore:

Try this,

Start
Run...
"type" cmd /k cd\ <enter>
"type" sfc /scannow <enter>
(you will need your OS CD)
afterward install SP2 and your Updates again...

If that doesn't completely fix it, there are some other things to do...
