Plugging in any mouse gives BSOD

Hello,
I have a Dell E 1505 laptop with Windows XP Media Edition. running SP3.
When I plug in any type of mouse I get the BSOD. My flash drive and printer
work fine. I deleted the USB stuff from device manager but I don't have the
install cd to reinstall the USB drivers. System restore got me back to the
same point and I can still use my flash drive and printer. Any thoughts on
this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Xray

Try a different USB mouse. If the same thing happens if you use a different
make of mouse, then you'll know it's something wrong with your computer's
USB. (Possibly damaged sockets, failure of the USB controller /
motherboard).

If another USB mouse works fine, then you can probably put it down to a
'quirky' incompatibility between your own particular mouse and your PC.

But test it out with another before doing anything else.

Look for updated drivers for the Dell E 1505 laptop, especially any for
the BIOS, and the motherboard.

Thanks for the info. I actually did try another make, Microsoft , instead of
the logitec one where the problem was first noticed. It also failed with
another Logitech mouse. I'll look into the other suggestions.
Thank you again,
