I just received a new computer from my boss and I hooked it up just fine. I
still have programs and files on the old hard drive so i bought an adapter
for the drive. When I got the adapter I connected everything just the way it
said in the manual. I connected the adapter to the USB port in the front of
my computer and it says that it sees the hard drive but it cannot connect it.
The computer is running Win XP pro but the Hard drive was running XP home.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong?
Do I need to Change adpaters or is there a way to get to my files without
running two computers at the same time?

Lol.
Is your Computer USB.2.0?
And what model and make is the hard drive you are using incl. The Adaptor?
By the way, what do you mean by the '' Adaptor?'' you mean, your changing a
normal hard drive, to connect to a USB Port?..

It sounds like you put a hard drive into a USB hard drive enclosure. If
that's right, did the enclosure come with drivers? Did you install the
drivers before plugging it in? How do you know the computer "sees the hard
drive?" What exactly do you mean by "cannot connect it?"
