Please wait while Windows configures...

I recently installed Windows Vista and Office 2003 Professional, and now
Office 2007 Professional (because I hoped it would fix my problem, nope).
When I open ANY office program, I get a window asking that I wait while
windows configures the software and/or "gathering information."

When I'm accessing Outlook, these windows popup for EACH email that is being
downloaded.

I've triend uninstalling the software, including making sure the "C:/Program
Files/Microsoft Office" folders were removed. Is there something I'm
missing? It's really annoying and I can't seem to find anything that works
to fix this problem.

Did you completely uninstall Office 2003?
Is this a clean install of Windows Vista or an upgrade form a previous
version of Windows?

I have installed VISTA and Office 2003 on a new drive installed in a Gateway laptop and am having an identical problem. Whenever Outlook is started, CPU usage goes to 100% and I get multiple "please wait...." dialog boxes. Closing a box just results in a new box. Outlook is unusable.

Office does not appear on the "uninstall" list, so I can't even uninstall and try again.

There has to be a fix for this somewhere.

Did you create a new mail profile?
