I posted this question yesterday with no replies. Can someone please help me?

Hi,

Our organization is running on MS XP and Office 2003. It seems the methods
of inserting hyperlinks into e-mail messages for people. For example, when I
insert a hyperlink I can highlight and right click the text and select
Hyperlink. From here, the Insert Hyperlink box appears and I can navigate to
the specific file I want to link to and select OK. However, the method is
different for other users. When highlighting the text and rightj-clicking,
the hyperlink feature does not appear. They have to highlight the text then
go to Insert>Hyperlink. The box that pops up is different. It does not allow
for people to navigate to the proper files. They have to go to My Computer
and then navigate to the folder from there and copy and paste the path. After
that, they have to manually type in the name of the file. Why is this
happening?

Is it the configuration of Outlook? Is it possible that users selected the
options for an older version of Outlook eventhough they have Outlook 2003?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nikki

The difference is between having either Word or Outlook set as the email
editor;
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format

Thank you so much. We're trying to educate our users to use hyperlinks
instead of attachments and this is one problem I encountered. You saved me a
lot of headaches.

hey, i had the same question as the other person about hyperlinks. i need to
help a colleague who has the same problem as described by femfrog. i tried
to play with my outlook options and here is what i get (ptinyscreen below). i
am not given the option to choose Outlook as editor. the default option is
Word. should i check both Word as editor and reading rich text msgs?
Plus, the email can be formatted as HTML and still handles hyperlinks well,
letting you choose the document. is this a matter of outlook version?

thanks

And Word is what you need as editor for this.
is this a matter of outlook version?
Don't know; you didn't tell us your version.
