IE8 and Outlook 2003 and hyperlinks

I cannot open hyperlinks in outlook 2003 e-mail. I have XP with IE8 and when
I click on a hyperlink in outlook it opens two (2) pages of IE8 (the first is
blank and the second is home page) and that is all it does. Interestingly
enough if I minimize the IE8 pages and click on the hyperlink then it will
open the hyperlink correctly. In other words the hyperlinks work only when
IE8 is already open. When I change my default browser to Mozilla it still
opens the blank IE8 but does open the hyperlink ok in Mozilla.

Any suggestions

I forgot to mention it was also doing the exact same thing with IE7 before I
installed IE8. It works fine in Outlook Express but not in Oulook 2003.

did you try resetting the web settings? That fixes most problems between IE
and Outlook.

Which Web settings.....I believe I have reset most of them but might have
missed something. Is there a list to check off somewhere?

did you try resetting the web settings? That fixes most problems between IE
