Please please help with 2003 server installation

I appologize, I posted this previously in a different newsgroup here and I cannot figure out where it went.

I am trying to install windows 2003 server on a dual boot machine. This machine has 2 ide hard drives. I am installing this only to learn how to use it, not for functionality. I get to the fourth step of installation which is Installing Windows. The system runs for awhile and then stops. I get the following error

The signature for Windows Setup is invalid. The error code is fffffdda

The system cannot find message text for message number 0xfffffdda in the message file for syssetup.dl

Fatal Erro

Setup failed to install the product catalogs

Can someone please help me out? My trial time is running out and I havn't even been able to install this darn thing yet. It has been quite trying and I have made it a considerable distance since my last three trys. Thanks so much.

are you managing to format a partition? are you running the installation
from boot up or from another operating system?

I was able to format my D drive to NTFS and the operation completed successfully. To start the setup, I re-installed windows 98(I wanted a clean hard drive and Operating system) and then I ran setup from the CD I burned from the ISO image. Setup gave me the option to install a dual boot and that is what I selected. After server checked the system, it allowed me to format the partition to NTFS
