Please offer suggestions, System is way to slow

Okay folks I'm looking for a little suggestions on what I can do to speed up
my system.
I have a P3 933, WINXP with 512MB Ram 40GB HD with 27GB free space. I've run
a Mcafee and Nortons, and ewido virus and have none.
I ran Antispyware and a couple of other spyware and those are all now clean,
But my system is draggin, now I know it's a P3 but it's running like it's a
p1 or 486 some of you may not know what a 486 is but it is running that
slow...
I've checked MSconfig and only have the programs running that I need to
start up...
I've defragged....

This happened after I got a virus, & spyware on my desktop. I have since
cleaned those with the help of this group.. Thank You so much...

What else am I missing.... I'm looking for any software programs that will
identify what's happening...

Thank You

You have done almost everything still your system is running slow.
Why don't you try a clean installation?

Have you used Msconfig as outlined by microsoft, try reading 310560
Also, even with Msconfig, you should open task mgr,and see whats actually
running, you can also edit services by going to run, type:services.msc In msc
double click a service,select how it's to run.You might also,go to run,type:
cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C: See the results,then type:CHKDSK C: /F Or
/R Agree to restart,then type:EXIT Restart computer.

you can also clean out event logs...such as in administrative tools>>> event
folder>>> there are 3 listings, application...security...system, click on
each ...click on action...then clear folders. then you can also clean out
your restore points folder
and most security programs have and events log clean those out as well. and
you will have given yours self some speed and disk space.
