Please Help!

Internet explorer isn't working at all. It doesn't even
give me an error message. I try to click on it from the
desktop and it thinks for a second then nothing happens.
And now outlook express is acting up too. I can't open
attachments, click on URL's or forward attachments.
Scanned for Ad-ware, etc and did a full virus scan. Can
anybody help???!!!!

try starting wirh the internet explorer repair tool.
If you are running IE versions 5 or 6 this might help.
from the start button in the lower left corner of your
screen, click settings then control panel,
open "add/remove programs"
scroll down until you find IE. It will be listed as
internet eplorer 5.X or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1
(service pack 1). The tool only works with versions 5 or
6.
highlight whichever version you are using (there may only
be one listed).
If you click on the add/remove button, a menu screen
should pop up giving you options to add components, repair
or revert to a previous version
Click the radio button that says "repair".
You will have to reboot.
This may or may not correct the problem, but it's a good
first step.

Okay - IE isn't listed in my add/remove programs. Neither
is OE. What does that mean? It's listed in my C drive,
under Program Files. But if I click on setup it tells me
a newer version is already there and setup cannot continue.
Any ideas?

By the sounds of it you are better of formatting your system and installing
Windows afresh; especially considering the fact that your problem are
spreading to OE.

You cannot update IE by clicking on the programme file within Windows. Use
Windows Update.

Does that mean to reinstall the whole thing - from disc or
is there another way? Do I have to back up any documents
or anything? I appreciate any suggestions because I'm not
very computer savvy (sorry)!

Well yes, you do have to back up your documents because when you reformat
that is currently on the system is deleted.

It would be best to get somebody more experienced to help you out on site
for this.
