I am currently working over in Iraq, rely heavilly on my laptop. I have a
problem in that when i switch the power on after three seconds it cuts out.
This has happened previously, and i have managed to get around the problem by
taking out the battery and leaving for half hour or so, it them seems to
power up normally.

But as of now it does not want to power up either with the mains pack
connected or with the battery standalone, or both power / battery together.
When i press the power on button i get the Hard disk and battery lights but 3
seconds later just powers itself off.

The laptop is a Dell d600. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards.

I would contact Dell and see what they have to say. It's not even getting to
WinXP. Could be a power problem.

It seems that there is problem with your battery.Try to replace it.

The hardware believes the battery is dead and is shutting down. Contact
Dell regarding repair.
