Hi David

one of them is a my ATI folder under program files and
the others is the system folder under the windows
directory for some reason these 2 folders pop up after my
machine is done booting...

Hello Shane

On the start menu, click RUN and type in "MSCONFIG" without the quotation
marks. Click on the Startup tab, and look for the folders. Then, once you
find the folders, uncheck the box next to them.

Hope this helps!

Shane,

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

For the System32 folder, there are multiple possible causes. If you have a
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card, see
www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 260, Right column, System32
Folder Opens on Boot.

Otherwise, you can do a little manual digging and locate the problem entry
in the Registry. Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Look in the right pane for any value that has a long file name (spaces in
the path or file name) that isn't enclosed in quotes. If you find any,
right click the value name and select Modify. Put quotes before and after
the value. To make this easier, See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities,
Startup Programs Tracker. This small utility scans your system for startup
programs and running processes. It also allows you to create a log file
that can be copied and pasted into a newsgroup post. The contents of the
program window are also copied to the Windows Clipboard, automatically.
