Please Help - Windows SP2

I have been dealing with Microsoft for the past month and
I really need some help. Perhaps there is someone out
there. After installing SP2 i kept getting Windows
Explorer has performed an illegal operation and will shut
down. The error message was at the ntdll.dll after
looking up the error. So using a Microsoft tech we
uninstalled the patch. Now my computer is systematically
crashing on all applications. First AOL crashed and I
reinstalled it. Then a box kept coming up that said I
needed to put back my Microsoft Office XP disk. So I did
a repair of office and that was fine. Then my Microsoft
Plus Themes would't work. I tried doing a repair /
reinstall but it kept saying Fatal Error that a module
was missing and crashed. Ever since it crashed Plus!
won't work and now there is an error on Office XP that
says it can't load the program something with c:\program
files\microsoft office\1033\. When I click off the error
office will come up.

This is getting really ridiculous. Its like every
application is crashing as the other is fixed. Microsoft
said I should do a repair install of Win XP. Does anyone
think this will solve the problem with what I explained
above? Please help. I'm afraid to uninstall office and
plus and reinstall from scratch b/c of the fatal error
that keeps popping up on Plus!

HELP! This is a month already. I have a Sony Vaio
PCVRX860. It's only a year old and it was working like a
charm when up until I installed the patch.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. i'm buying a
Windows XP disk for repair install on Thursday or
Friday.

Have you tried uninstalling SP2? I had to do that, and it took me back
to SP1. I had some residual problems due to the fact that there were some
pieces of SP2 left in my system. Those residual problems, however, were
much less serious than the ones I had when SP2 was installed. SP2 seems
more like a virus than an upgade to me at this point. I will eventually
have to upgrade to SP2, but I am hoping that most of the problems will be
ironed out as time marches on. Most of the problems I had were conflicts
with my video drivers, and there are no updated drivers for my video cards.
Microsoft is forcing the world to adjust to their mistakes again.

In any case, I was much better off after uninstalling SP2 and it wasn't
hard to do. You can do it from the Add/Remove programs section of the
control panel. I would do a backup first, if you can. Any major operation
can result in a catastrophe with Windows.

Using the Microsoft technician I used Add/REmove to get
rid of SP2 and that is when this catastrophe happened.

It is no longer listed in Add/Remove but now all my
microsoft applications (one by one) are not working.
Plus! Themes didn't work and said Fatal Error in a module
and won't reinstall. Office now has an error and won't
boot up unless i click off the error. even windows media
is not functioning properly

Please help. An SP2 tech said i should do a repair
install of Win XP. Will that help? Should I try to
uninstall office completely instead of doing repair
installs? How do I remove plus completely with that
module/fatal error with the speech portion.

1) Check Add/Remove Programs for "peer point manager"
which is a component that is installed with kaaza.
Simply removed it from add/remove programs and reboot

2) Norton Clean Sweep can cause the error as well.

I seen both of these apps cause the issue and removing it
has resolved.

Since I first posted this, I noticed something that might be
significant:
Most of the delay in startup occurs before either Norton or Zone Alarm
loads. At that time, there is very little disk activity. I think that's
when the problem occurs. Once the disk activity picks up, Norton and Zone
Alarm load at pretty much the same speed as before.

I do not have Kazaa or Peer Points Manager installed and
I do not have or ever had Norton Clean Sweep.
