Hi,
My LCD monitor won't display anything below 640*480. So during the startup
of windows xp, the monitor will show "out of range" . Is there any way to
increase the resolution of windows boot screen? Even the bios self-test
screen has the resolution 640*480.

thanks

There is nothing below 640X480. Your next step would be
to up it to 800X600 or 1024X768. Go to:
Start/ControlPanel/Appearance and Themes/Change the
screen resolution

What monitor????
Did you uninstall your previous monitor? I am using a 17" gnr F173 and
it has no drivers installed, is set as standard plug & play monitor. Is
working fine. What happens if you boot from a DOS diskette? Check if a
driver was supplied with your monitor?

Mike.

Er, yes there is Jake. I believe the boot screen is 320 *200 (someone
correct me if I'm wrong) just like the boot screen in 98SE.

Are you sure your video card is OK? An LCD screen should sow anything up to
its maximum. The LCD on my laptop has a native resolution of 1400 x 1050 and
shows everything up to that maximum.
