PLEASE HELP: STANDBY RROBLEM

My learned friends,

Due to of a memory issue I recently had to do a clean install of windows.

Before the clean install, when I put the PC on standby the Monitor, CPU and
my external hard drive would shut down. However, now, when I put the PC on
standby the monitor shuts down as usual but the CPU and external hard drive
seem to remain on as I can still hear the fans from both the PC and the
external hard drive, not to mention that the light indicating that the
external hard drive is on remains on during standby and this was not the case
before.

How can I solve this problems?

This usually comes about from not having installed the motherboard
chipset drivers or the incorrect drivers. You should find them on a CD
that came with PC/motherboard or at the motherboard manufacturers website.
