L

Linda Johnson

I am trying to setup a wired network between my two desktops to share the
internet connection.

ISP: SBC Yahoo
Both computers are running windows xp
Using Siemens slipstream 4100 modem and DL 604 router
My computer is the host
All connections are active on the modem and router but cannot get the client
computer to connect.

Have run the network connection wizard but still not working.

Thank you for your assistance.

Assuming you have ICS, can you ping each other? Posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help.

Linda,

Did you run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers?

How do your computers connect to the router? If both computers connect directly
(the right way to use a router), then you have no host or client. You select

through a residential gateway.
for each computer. The router is a residential gateway.

If no help yet, let's look at "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we can
diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely:

You needd to explain exactly how these devices are connected and configured.
A Siemens Speedstream 4100 is a modem/router combo with a DHCP server
enabled by default - probably with a 192.168.254.x scope.
