Please help me

Here's the scenario...Thx beforehand for anyone who can offer me some help.

I have 1 hard drive.
I partitioned it to c: and d:
I installed windows xp professional on c:
I redirected the shortcut from "c:/.../my documents" to "d:/my documents" to
hold my important files
My computer had some problems
I formatted c: only (thinking it won't affect my d:/my documents)
I reinstalled windows xp professional on c:
I try to access d:/my documents
The error comes up saying "D:/my documents not accessible. Access is denied."
How can I access my important files again?

Once again, thank you very much for your time and effort in reviewing and
offering help to my problem.

Take ownership of the files:

You need to take ownership of the files and folder in order to access
them.
