Please Help - I Forgot How........Word Document Question

my previous request may have not been so clear... but here it is again

I guess I should have just said.... I want to create a line in my document
(so when I use it as a hard copy I can just fill in the information) that
always stays the same, but one that I can also type text into without
disturbing the line.
This is what I want to have:

Example: ____________

save it and use it, but not have it do this:

Example: __would be here___

it's not just typing text and underlining it, it's being able to create a
word document / form and typing into the line area without disturbing the
line itself.

Thanks for trying to help ;~)

OK, I think I get it.... I have to go to an entirely different MS Group. Not
Windows XP, but probably MS Office 2003. Bye and thanks!

Easily done. I do it all the time for forms. It is better to create your
fill-in area while you are creating your master document, especially if you
will have many fill-in areas. Type your line up to where you want the
underline to begin and then press the space bar once. Set 3 new tabs (do
this by single clicking on the tab marking area at the bottom of the ruler
bar) at the beginning, one or two character spaces to the right of the first
and at end of the area where you want to type the information or have an
underline. At the beginning of the area (at the first tab) turn on the
underline by clicking on the U icon on the menu bar or pressing Ctrl +U at
the same time. Once the U icon is highlighted, press the Tab key two times.
(The first press should create a very short underline. The second the
underline to the last tab. You can adjust the length of the line by moving
(clicking and dragging) the LAST tab to the right or left on the ruler
line.) Turn off the underline by repeating the process for turning it on.
Press the space bar once and type the next information (it and the space
should not be underlined.) Save the document.

To use as a document for fill-in on the computer, click just after the
beginning of the underline and start typing. It should be underlined text.
This will give you a character or two of blank line and look as if the text
was typed on the line.

Let me know if this helps or if you have any more questions.
