PLEASE HELP convert jpg file to jpeg image greatly appreciated

i need to convert a jpg file back to its original state which was jpeg image
so i can view my foto's, mpls help thanx

In the absence of any other replies to your post, I'll make a suggestion.

images are usually stored using .jpg encoding as a file.
It will have a name such as DSCN345.jpg

files with .jpg and .jpeg suffixes are both images encoded using the
procedure developed by the "joint photographic group," and if my memory
is correct, they were teams from the Institute of Electronic and
Electrical Engineers (IEEE) and the Motion Picture and Television
Engineers (MPTE).

HOWEVER - I've noted that of late, not all .jpg images can be decode by
all programs. Microsoft Digital Image Pro seems to work most often.
Furthermore, once a .jpg image has been modified, perhaps compressed to
fit a smaller file size, it is usually impossible to recover the
original detail.

Thanx for taking pity on my all so lonely post, your answer was very
detailed but thx, i downloaded some software from free downloadscentre and my
images are back to normal.
