not really.
if you can't install it
and you have removed
all the registry keys for the
synctoy then it does sound
like you in a pickle.
maybe you can undelete
the entire temp directory
with a freeware called recuva.
it's one of those programs
that can restore deleted files
that are still on the disk but
no longer seen in the recycle
bin.
maybe you can restore
the deleted files temporarily.
the files are:
custsat.dll
EULA_for_SyncToy.rtf
SqmManagedWrapper.DLL
SyncToy.exe
SyncToyEngine.DLL
synctoyhelp.chm
synctoyico.ico
maybe i can email them to you in
a zip file if you give me your email address.
No luck :-(
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"
killing me!
Worst part is the directory where is looking for the original .msi
file: It's in the temporary internet files... long gone!
What else could I do?
Hey Folks,
Ok - back from a work trip and still trying to figure this out on my
home box. Here's the deal:
-Registry cleaners, etc have been run
-Temp internet folder cannot be recovered.
-Uninstaller is looking for file setup[1].msi in that folder
-I've recreated the folder and copied (and renamed) the setup.msi file
from new dowload of synctoy
-When I try to uninstall (or install new version) it detects this
file, but is able to tell it's not the correct version.
Only conclusion I can come to is thus that I need the Setup.msi file
from previous version of synctoy. I *think* I'm looking for v1.2 -
does ANYBODY have any idea where I would find?
Does anybody have any ideas? Such a pain! How can such a small
Microsoft program be causing me such a problem!
Thanks in advance,
Rich
