Please help activating.....

I know while booting up on Windows 98 and the like that
you can press the "del" key and it will take you to a
diagnostics page showing the hardware in your computer.
Can this be done with XP pro....i've have tried
unsuccesfull, I need to go in a check to make suremy a:\
is activated....thank you!!

No, this isn't correct.

You're presumably talking about the BIOS setup screens. This has
nothing to do with Windows 98, or with *any* operating system.
Going to the BIOS setup screens is a function, not of the
operating system, but of your hardware--specifically the BIOS
chip on the motherboard. In fact, this must be done before
Windows even starts to boot.

How to do this depends on what particular BIOS you have. Your
previous machine, running Windows 98, happened to use del (the
most common key), but your new one doesn't. The difference is in
the hardware, not the operating system.

To find what key to press to do this, consult your system
documentation, or contact your vendor. You can also watch the
screen carefully when it first boots; it often tells you there
how to do it.
