Please fix the 32bit apps crash bug on Vista 64

As topic says, please fix it. Have Vista 64 and now all my 32bit internet
accessing programs just stoppped working.

Read this thread, have exactly the same problem:

and I've read and tried all solutions that are available, googled in about
13 hours straigt now...

I've: used the rapair thingy that you can use with the Vista dvd
... scaned with the command: sfg /scannow
... scanned for virus : NOD32
... defragmented
... scanned memory with the program on the Vista dvd
... started IE7 with no add-on's
... tried to reset IE7
... turned DEP OFF/ON
... seached the internet used google alot, run over this forum
... unplugged the computer from the internet
... uninstalled resent installed applications
... run windows in failsafe mode, pressing F8 at boot
... also did a system restore.. still not working

all 32bit applications just do not function and when I close them they do
not respond.

Has it occurred to you that having installed IE7 32-bit on a 64-bit OS might
be causing the other 32-bit Internet apps to crash as well? If these other
apps are mission critical and require the 32-bit version of IE, why then
would you be running the 64-bit version of Vista instead of the 32-bit
version.

64 bit Vista comes with both a 32 bit and a 64 bit IE7 as standard. The OP
should not be having this problem, however, I am not sure what is causing
it. Several people running 64 bit Vista have reported the same, ie 32 bit
apps failing to connect to the internet and crashing.

I'm running Vista 64 bit, and have had no such weirdness - yet.

Thanks, Jane. I only ran 64-bit for a very brief period. Obviously, not
long enough to know it also included IE7 32-bit.<LOL> I assume that is for
compatibility with various applications that might be looking for or
otherwise require the 32-bit version.

I haven't upgraded on wile so I thought that x64 were the "thing" I should
get. And some of the programs that I use are 32bit yes, but some are 64bit
too.

And yes, all 32bit crash oppon using the internet, I do not even think they
use IE7 or firefox, just connecting through the net and they crash. For
example if a 32bit program use their built-in update it crashes..

Test this, it worked for me

Got this from another thread; (e-mail address removed) tell that you should
reset the winsocket

""Try to reset the Winsock file:

1. Click Start , type cmd in the Start Search text box, and then
press ENTER.
2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh winsock reset
3. Restart the computer.""

And it worked! Thanks everyone!

In fact - I do have exactly the same issue here. All 32-Bit apps crash
while accessing the internet.
I tried nearly all checks as listed above - no virus, no malware.

Resetting the winsock worked. :)
I cannot understand why this happened.
