My computer has been kinda batty tonight. I did a reboot and saw a wee
bit of smoke come out of the psu. Does this more than likely mean my
cpu, mobo, anything else is dead? Or just the psu?

Thanks

Might be just the PSU - won't know until you go to replace the PSU and then
turn it on. When my PSU failed it took out my two optical drives, a HDD,
one of the memory sticks, and the CPU. I was a bit daft because I should
have seen it coming because PC would shut down for no reason and then
reboot.

Don't use the computer again, or even try the PSU a second time.
It could fry.

Immediately change the PSU for a new one, and then continue your testing.

The smoke likely came from the PSU, and by changing the PSU,
you will be taking fewer chances.

Ordered a new PSU from NewEgg, priority overnight. I really hope it's
just the PSU. Just bought the HyperX memory and the FX60. Would really
hurt to lose 'em let alone anything else.

Please give a *complete* hardware inventory.

Knowing the name and model of the old supply, and the name and model number
of the new supply, perhaps we can offer some advice on whether the supplies
were/are adequate.

This FX-60 is 110 watts. 12V2 should be minimum 10 amps, and preferably
around 13 amps or so. I add three amps for margin. If you have a "kick-ass"
video card, that'll makes the consumption worse.

Most likely it's just the PSU. I've had a couple of them that went bad
and both times the CPUs/MBs were unaffected.

The only way to diagnose the damage is to first replace the PSU with a known
working one and see if that solves the problem.
