playing music on home stereo

I have 1-2000 songs on my laptop computer and am wondering if there is a way
to run the sound through my home stereo. I don't even necessarily need the
amplifier, but would like to hear the music on better quality speakers than
are on my laptop. Thanks!

all you need is a wire that compatible with the headphone out on your laptop
and the aux input on your stereo. that would be the simplest way.

I've been doing this for a few years now. I have a long cable from the back
of my computer in the study where the PC speakers normally plug in. I use a
double adaptor so I can here the music on my PC and the cable has a stereo
plug which runs to the back of the HIFI amp in the lounge room. Just choose a
spare input and a way you go. Every CD I have is now on my PC (where talking
Gigs) so its a lot easier to make up playlists and start your music up that
way. Also your original CDs will last longer! PS I also run my TV and DVD
player through the amp.
