Hi There,

I noticed today that when I try to open for example a mpg file via internet
or a wav file I often get an error telling me the page can't be opened.
In the past, I was able either to see the MPG file via some IE option or it
selected the Media Player on my pc.

So something changed somewhere.... ~Worried look~
Now I have installed Windows Media Player 10 a while ago and yesterday
DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime .

Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks in advance,
Ellen

sounds like the links that point to the media files is down or dead.

Hi:

You may try to point the link and right lick to save the file to local
folder.

If it can't be saved, it's definitely a problem of the link, or otherwise,
you can try it again at your local folder to see if there are any similar
problems.

Also, it's just my personal habit to save it on the local folder for two
major purposes - (1) Less interruption during viewing the file and using
Internet bandwidth, and more importantly, (2) to scan it with Antivirus
program to see if there are any unwanted "codes" in it.

Good luck.

Hi Xfile,

you correct about your personal habit. And I should know better, your
right!

I managed to save some of the WAV files to my c:Drive the other day and then
I was able to open them correctly.
I am not sure how to point the link, but when I try to do the same today, it
all seems to work. Maybe this is caused by the fact I took following step
last night:

* Tools/internet options/advanced
* Reset Standard Values (I have to translate from Dutch to English)

And the fact that I did basically a reboot by shutting down my PC last
night.
Anyway it seems the problem is solved... but I will try to take over your
personal habit as well!

Best Regards and thanks for your feedback!

Ellen
