play an audio CD using MCI

I have a program that uses mci to access the cdrom drive and play audio.
It works fine under Windows XP Pro, but I can't get it to work with XPe.
I've already added the following components:
-audio support
-CDFS
-MCI support
I'm able to get the playstate, the tracklist (including times), but I just
can't start the playback. But I get no errors...

I've also installed Windows Media Player 9.0. This player seems to have no
trouble playing the audio CD.

Has anybody had similar problems? Tips maybe?
