Plain text parts begin with spurious word "Blank"

When I receive a multipart/alternative message from

X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook 8.5, Build 4.71.2173.0
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180

with a text/plain part and a text/html part the first thing in the body
of the text plain part is a spurious word "Blank" as in

BlankHi,
....

or

BlankDear Mark,
....

This word "Blank" is only in the text/plain part, not in the text/html
part and is apparently not visible to the composer of the mail. It also
does not appear in a message from the same person which is just
text/plain, not multipart/alternative.

Are there any settings, patches or updates to fix this?

it's the stationary name. Are you (or the sender) converting html to plain
text?

Presumably, yes. The sender composes the mail in Outlook's (I think)
HTML editor and then presumably Outlook converts it to plain text for
the text/plain part of the multipart/alternative message.

This hasn't been thoroughly investigated, but the "Blank" didn't appear
in a message that was single part text/plain only even though the
message was composed in the HTML editor, but I think that message may
have been single part because of some "reply in the format of the
received message" setting which may also have turned off the
stationery.

Your theories are correct. :)
