plain text attachment from explorer not working

I am using Outlook 2000 and have the mail format set to
send plain text attachments. This worked for Win Me and
Win 2000 but with my new Win XP SP2 machine when I send an
internet explorer page it sends it as HTML instead of
plain text. Any ideas?

Since a web page is an HTML page, I'm not sure what the problem is here.

We use an invoicing system that produces text invoices in
Internet Explorer. Outlook provides a mail format option
(under Tools, options, Mail Format) that determines
whether a page is sent in HTML format or plain text
format. In the Win ME and Win 2000 environments when we
did a send page from IE the attachment file produced was
a .txt file. But my XP SP2 machine produces an .htm file.
We need it to attach a .txt file.

I don't quite understand what you mean by that. If it's a web page displayed
in IE, then sending the page by email will result in sending a web page, in
other words, an .htm file.

I imagine you have different IE versions on those machines and therein lies
the issue. Outlook itself doesn't do any formatting of the attachment.

It is not a web page per set. It is a text file displayed
in IE. The address, e.g., is
http://192.168.0.1/ads/webwork/TLPRINT.txt?123241
When I do a Tools->Mail and News->Send Page... in IE, it
used to produced a .txt attachment, now it produces a .htm
attachment. The Win 2000 IE version is 6.0.2800.1106 and
the Win XP IE version is 6.0.2900.2180.
