Placeholders on title master (PowerPoint) won't let me add text

When I insert the title master I expect to be able to click and add text in
the placeholders when I'm in normal view. It won't allow me to do this. Is
this a normal function of PowerPoint? I'm able to click and add text for
slides other than the title master.

Are these the Standard placeholders from the Master slide, or did you
customize the Master slide?
