Can you lock columns in a pivot table?

I do not want a column to disappear when data is selected and no record
exists within one of the columns in the pivot table.
 
Yes, there is. You must click in the field you want to remain constant and
select the field settings option, Layout & Print tab, then check the box
"show items with no data".
