pinnacle pctv pro card not finding any channels. help

hi,

bought the pinnacle pctv pro card. installs fine with the 5.5 pinnacle
software under win200pro. self diagnostic software runs successful.
then when scanning for channels it does not find any. plugged in
aerial. same static noise. sometimes bit of green stripe shows at the
bottom of the picture.

Took it to my mate who has win ME (pls don't comment on that, I
know...) for a moment during scanning for channels there was a very
faint picture of some station, but it was as faint as seeing a ghost
in a fog whilst looking in to the sea. its difficult to believe that
we both have bad aerial reception. My aerial is a portable one with an
amplifier specially designed for regions with weak transmission tv
signal.

Help, am on the verge of giving this card back to the shop. Thought
about buying Hauppage win tv usb. But also found people having many
problems with it! Looks like there are no decent pc tv cards out there
at the moment. Or are there please advise.

I had similar problems...

Board required an amp for the signal for it to work...

What do you mean by "amp"?
The aerial i've bough has an amp build in with a nob to adjust
strength. Still don t work with this!

Which amp did you purchase?

I was using cable which had ample signal but the pctv required more than an
average TV. I used a Radio Shack cable TV amp.

First set it to pal/ntsc/pal m or pal b, depending your country. After this, autosearch channels. In Configuration Video.
