I guess you listend to me (and forwarded this to whoever is responsible for
the GUI design) when I complained about the volume indicator could not be
seen unless you
had the WMP11 window width large enough.. this is a good improvment in
windows 7 WMP the volume indicator is always visible.

I have more input to improve WMP11...
As long as I know someone will listen, I can help.

This newsgroup is generally hard to wade through - I'll generally be more
likely to see your responses/posts if they're in the
microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_video newsgroup. I'm not
kibo, so I don't search for my name. Sometimes I search for crashes to look
into, but that's about it. =)

It would be inappropriate for me to comment or speculate on any images
coming out in any form for unreleased products unless the images come
officially from Microsoft. (Read: if it's an Official Image, I can discuss.
Otherwise, it's just a rumor of an image, and any comments in any direction
from me would be inappropriate or likely banned by my terms of
employment/NDAs.)

I might point out that the various elements of Vista design were pretty
deliberately kept under wraps from everyone not on a need-to-know basis
until very late in the product cycle. It is likely exciting to speculate or
comment upon what might be perceived to be a Windows 7 image, but I
certainly can not discuss that sort of thing. "I can neither confirm nor
deny..."

If I have free personal time, I'll likely be on the community/Connect side
of any future pre-release community involvement, so that would be a more
appropriate forum for this non-Vista feedback. =)

But, yes, I really do take people's feedback seriously, and do what I can to
help make the Windows experience better. I couldn't comment on the
truthyness of any given image, but I really do talk with the various Right
People about user-raised issues very regularly. It's not my job - I'm a
random developer on the shell/multimedia team - I just simply believe it's
an opportunity for me to add more value for you. If you have a good
suggestion, hey, it helps both of us if I pass that along. =)

So again, I really can't comment upon any Windows 7 speculation, especially
in a public forum. But: thanks for your feedback. =)

Cheers,
-Zach

Hello Zachd, tell me how I can in the best way get the best feedback -
comments - and suggestions
(along with video and images presenting my suggestions) to microsoft?

I believe that my feedback would be valuable to MS, and I would be more than
happy to offer my service for free
to make the products better. I have the experience and background in art,
design, and computing to offer some good suggestions.
Since you can understand that making images and or videos showing what I
mean would take some time out of my schedule I would want to know that
someone from MS actually sees them.

I want to help, just tell me the most effective way to get the message
accross.

Thanks

That's an interesting question. There's some large number (let's just say a
nice round number like five hundred million) of people with opinions and
suggestions on Microsoft's operations and software. I would not want to
pretend that I know great ways to channel or direct that multitude feedback.
I generally cover what I know about this subject here:
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#psssupport

I suspect that MVPs have more channels of access, but I certainly don't know
as I'm only an eXPert, not an MVP.

It would be inappropriate for me to mislead you into thinking that I could
handle or direct you effectively here. I'm here on my own time hunting for
small items I can help with or add value on or get fixed. My involvement
with the large community affairs team is secondary at best, and I couldn't
speak for them.

There's feedback and there's product design. If you're talking about
feedback, the easiest way to work with that is to join beta programs when
available. If you're talking product design, that's generally "submit your
resume" time. =) For any given project there's a large pool of people
working on product design and implementation. Adding "N" voices to the mix
probably isn't too helpful. Having aggregated channels of feedback is more
interesting, but probably difficult to manage.

I really do not feel I have anything interesting to offer on this front.
Respectfully, I would like to discontinue this conversation. I'm interested
in Vista and multimedia, but feel that sorting out "average end user
involvement in Windows planning" is likely beyond the scope of my limited
powers. =) There are likely other much more interesting people to talk to
on this subject than me. I'm just here as a friend. =)
