Thanks to your advice, I found my profile, created a new profile, by itself
that didn't help.
----
there should be some .msf files. I'm using TB 1.5.0.2, my profile folder
contains "Mail" and "News" directories, both contain subfolders for
accounts or subscribed groups.
Somewhere in there, there are the MSF files you need to delete. If you
can't find these things, you're probably looking at the wrong profile.
-----

Yes, they were there. Yesterday, I deleted all my MSF files. Then went
online, started TB, downloaded ng again, it worked fine. Later shut down.

This AM, cold boot, TB again has the usual problem, multiple copies of
posts, not just mine, on different newsgroups. Since yesterday, I changed
nothing.

Before, I've tried fresh installs, cleaning out registry, old no-install
versions, now the MSF files, there is nothing wierd running on my hard
drive.

I've used TB for years, worked fine, now have a problem that won't quit.

Advice?

Thanks,

Mike Sa

Multiple copies of posts (not only your own) strikes me as being a server
issue and not a client problem.

Have you tried a different client? One of the good free ones like Xnews or
Dialog etc, which are easy to set up and use.

I assume that by now you have deleted your Thunderbird folder containing
the profile folder with MFS Mail & News records? And not an old Mozilla
folder located in the same area?

Yes, this issue does not exist in Xnews on the same newsgroups. So I assume
it is a Thunderbird issue. I will look up Dialog.

Will post back....

Mike, I tried 40tudeDialog, many options, but at default settings, when I
click on header, it does not display the message text in the lower
window. Tried various things, no luck. Seems that should be basic default
operation.

Xnews, by itself started showing all threads expanded, I keep unchecking
that, but the setting does not take. ??

Will go through the steps on Tbird today.
