ping-service that can send email when sites go down

Anyone know of freeware (Windows 2000/XP/2003) software that can be set up
to ping a number of ip-addresses and send a email if locations is down?

I have found several kinds of such software, but none that runs as a
service.

I think that Servers Alive will do everything you want.

Yes, but its not freeware - its crippled. The freeware version only lets you
monitor 10 locations/servers.
