Ping problem on WindowsXP

hello everyone,

How can I find out why I cannot ping a XP host on a LAN? On the target
XP host, the firewall is disabled and it can ping other hosts on the
LAN. Is there any other way to refuse ICMP request on a XP host so
that I can change the configuration to permit it? Thanks.

Can the XP ping itself? also make sure no other security software like Norton internet security blocking the ping.

It can ping itself, and I only had one Symentec installed, even I
disabled it, It still has the problem. Thanks.

Most non-Microsoft firewalls do not disable properly. Uninstall your Norton
firewall and try again.

To clarify, It's a Symentec Antivirus Client, I'm not sure if it's the
same as Norton firewall you mentioned. However, I had it installed on
my another pc and it can ping and get ping properly. I don't think
it's the problem.

FYI, the computer runs WindowsXP with SP2.

If it's not configured properly it probably is - if it contains a firewall.
If not, start looking for a firewall on the non-responding PC.
