PING *.MVP - Outlook re Enter Network Password

This problem is of obvious concern to a great many people as indicated
through numerous submissions to this newsgroup. Speaking for myself,
I've read all the KB articles, hints, suggestions et al in an effort to
remedy the problem. However, the reality is that there doesn't seem to
be a solution at least not one that I'm aware of. I guess the question
begs to be asked "What is Microsoft doing about this issue".
Collectively we've spent thousands of dollars on this software - it's
buggy and not working as it should.

Hi Zyggy,

The only time that I have seen this come up is for one of two reasons...

1) The protected storage registry keys are corrupt and steps need to be
taken to delete them, reboot, and then visit each account in outlook and
provide the pop3 account information again.

or

2) The protected storage service is disabled/unavailable.

The only other thing that I can think of that might be a problem is that you
have an antivirus solution installed that scans POP3 email as it is
downloaded. These programs act as a proxy between Outlook and the mail
server and can cause login problems to the mail server. If possible, try
uninstall/disabling the software in order to rule this out.

I've tried these solutions too but no good. Any further help appreciated.

I use Norton Internet Security to scan incoming emails and have done for
three years but no problems like this before. I have XP Pro and XP Office
both updated to latest SP.
