Pinball

For some reason I am unable to load Pinball. It worked fine for a few weeks
after purchasing the computer with Win XP, but now only flashes the start-up
screen for a fraction of a seconds.
I have the Win XP CD but don't want to completely reinstall the full
program. Is there a way to extract only the Pinball program?

Thanks

The Pinball game is a Windows Component and can be removed/reinstalled from
within Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Add/Remove Windows Components.
However, the game does appear in this list, by default.

**In order to perform a reinstall of Pinball, you will need to have the
WinXP installation CD or the i386 folder on the C: drive.**

To force it to appear, perform the following:

Go to Start / Run and copy/paste the following line.
notepad %SystemRoot%\Inf\Sysoc.inf

Scroll down to the line that reads:
Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,HIDE,7
and delete the word HIDE from the line so that it reads:
Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,,7

(Be sure to leave the double comma characters)

Click File/Save and then File/Exit.

Open Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows Components
/ Accessories and Utilities / Details Button / Games / Details Button.
Remove the check mark from Pinball. Select OK / OK /Next / Finish. This will
uninstall Pinball.

Now, go back and reverse the above directions, adding the check mark to the
Pinball game. You may be prompted for the WinXP CD or the location of the
i386 folder.

Update your anti virus softwae and run a complete system scan.

Wes..
I do this on a regular basis and it has had no effect on the Pinball problem.
