Pictures / disconnect

Phil

I have 2 problems. I have paid $35 for microsoft help, but
they didn't ! How do I get my "DO you want to disconnect"
dialogue box to appear after I close (By hitting the "x"
in the top RH corner to appear ? It isn't at the moment,
and I have to go to the " monitors next to my clock and
click "Disconnect" from there. Also, when I go to save a
picture from the internet, I used to right click, save as,
the save as dialogue box would appear having automatically
selected the "My pictures" folder and file type as JPEG. I
used to save the picture and it would appear as a
thumbnail. Now all I get is an icon which looks like a
blank page with 6 icons showing on it. If I try to open
it, a message appears "Windows cannot open this file, as
it doesn't know which programme created it" However if I
select the icon from Paint shop pro 8, open it and "Save
as" from within that programme, the picture appears as a
thumbnail. What has gone wrong ? Please some one help. My
EMail address is (e-mail address removed) Thank you

Hi Phil,

Suggestions:

Check your settings here:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Settings/Advanced/
Disconnect when...

When you quit Internet Explorer, you may not be prompted to disconnect even
if the Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed option is enabled.

The following registry value also verifies that the option is enabled: Go to
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\RemoteAccess\Profile\"Connection
Name"\EnableExitDisconnect. The value should be 01 00 00 00.

This behavior can also occur if the Easy CD Creator Adaptec starts
automatically at startup. If this is the case:

To prevent the Easy CD Creator program from starting automatically, remove
the entry for Easy CD Creator from the following registry key:

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

For the jpg issue:

You need to reset the association. Check in WE/Tools/Folder Options/File
Types/jpg and/or right click one/Open With/Set Default....
