PICTURE IT AND PUBLISHER

I recently upgraded from ME to XP. I do newsletters in "Publisher" inserting the picutres from "Picture it
some from my digital, some from my scanner. With Windows ME I was able to sucessfully reduce pictures to fit in to the newsletter. Usually 640 pixels was a good size. With XP the picture transports or imports, whatever, to the newsletter but the photos are huge, even though I reduced them. I never had this problem with the former version of Picture i
Also, I would like my picture to automaticlly go to "Picture It" from my scanner or my digital. I don't know how to set up that option
Thank
