Picture Effects

I have a logo that has a star in it. I'd like to format the picture such that
the star shimmers. (Note: The star is the logo with words written in the
center.)

Is that possible with Powerpoint to have the star shimmer as the slide is
presented?

Liz,
You could use an emphasis effect from the custom animation task pane. There
is Flicker, Shimmer, Flash bulb. You will have to experiment which suits you
the best. If you want it to last during the whole slide, double click on the
effect, select timing tab, next to repeat set the number of repeats you want
or choose till the end of slide.

Thanks for your help! One last question: I went into the Emphasis panel,
and different options were not available for use. For example, I could not
use the "shimmer" option. Do you know how I could install or implement those
features?

"Shimmer" (it's not really a shimmer IMHO) is only available to shapes with
text. Add some text, apply, delete the text!
