Picture distortion

I have inserted pictures into my powerpoint, but they appear extremely
enlarged when I view the slide show. When I just click on the picture they
appear normal, but the slide show displays them too close up.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to have the pictures appear the same
in the slide show as they appear on my screen.

This sounds like your picture resolutions are way too high, which tends to
make your files way too big! For example, if you have a digital camera
picture of a high resolution image (one of those 6 megapixel images) and you
try to insert it on a PowerPoint slide, the size of the image is going to
grow because your screen's resolution is set for something like 1024 x 768.
In order to take your 4 x 6 image (which might be something like 3000 x 2000
pixels) and put it on a slide set for 10.5 x 7 inches and 1024 x 768, it
will need to make the image huge! You should be able to click the "Zoom"
dropdown and set it to 33%, allowing you to grab one of the corners of your
image and shrink it down to your slide size. However, this still causes
your file sizes to be huge (since you are inserting higher resolution images
than your computer can project (waste of space).

In layman's terms, the more megapixels of your camera images, the more
megabytes of your file sizes, the bigger your PowerPoint presentations will
be. What you need to do is to use a built in program like "Microsoft
Picture Manager" and compress your images down into something useable, like
75 - 150 DPI. To read more about this, check out the following FAQ:
