pic's from my pictures also going to properties

All my pictures including the ones downloaded from my camera are also going
to "Desktop in Display properties". (They are going to "my pictures" as
well.)
How can I stop this & how can I delete the many pics that are in desktop now?

Running windows XP.

Hi,
Windows XP can retrieve wallpaper images from:
C:\Documents and settings\username\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
C:\WINDOWS... BMP images
C:\ProgramFiles\Plus!\Themes
C:\Documents and settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer.

If you move images from these locations to another folder, they won't show
up in the list under Display Properties> Background.

In other words... create a new folder such as
C:\Documents and settings\username\My Documents\Pictures (not My Pictures)
and move images to this folder.
