How to delete items from harddrive

After downloading pics from my digital I would like to delete them when
finished printing. I right click on the picture and click delete but they
will not clear from the hard drive.

How can I take these pictures off of the hard drive.

REboot pc,then delete when back in xp..You may also,change the location of
where they get downloaded to,make a new folder,they may delete as whanted.

If you use the XP picture wizard, there is a box to check so the pictures
are deleted automatically after they are downloaded.
