Pics do not display in edit window? (2nd Post -- Please Help!)

Bob_?

When I open a presentation the image icons (in the left outline column)
display properly, but all images in the edit window (to the right) do not
appear. The graphic box will show as an outline only and I'm able to have
access to all image bar functions. The text and color also display as they
should. Plus the images show when the presentation runs. The only place they
don't show is in the edit pane?

I've tried uninstall/reinstall, different types of graphics (.gif,.bmp.jpg),
vid card performance settings, checking for viruses, disabling virus scan
and clean (safe) boot. Plus images display properly in all my other Office
programs. Although theres no indication theres anything wrong with my video
card I think I will get a new one anyway... just in case. Any other
suggestions welcome. In groups.google.com I found 2 another instances of
this problem but no solution was ever posted.

Thanks, -Bob

Does this happen with all presentations? Have you tried various
masters/templates?

Do you have any add-ins installed? Go to Tools > Add-ins to see if anything is
listed and checked.

What graphics card do you have installed - - make and model? What is the driver
version that is installed? If you aren't sure, go to
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and download the Belarc Advisor. It
will produce a detailed report on your system and under the heading "Display"
you'll find your graphics card listed.

Sonia, thanks for taking this on....
- Yes -- happens with all presentations and I've tried several, incl
different templates and styles
- No Add-Ins
- [Display adapter] - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600XT (Microsoft Corporation)
- [Driver] NVIDIA, ver. 5.6.7.3, 4/7/2004, digital signer: Microsoft
Windows Publisher
I've also uploaded a couple of screen shots of the problem:

I went to the NVIDIA site and it looks like this is the most recent
driver -- I could be wrong I'll do more searching again tonight.

Thanks again, -Bob

It looks to me like your video driver is about 7 months older than the most
recent one at

Maybe try changing hardware acceleration.

How to set graphics hardware acceleration back
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm

And if you're using PPT 2003, then go to Help/Check for Updates and install
SP-1 for Office 2003. It fixes a number of these odd "missing pix" issues.
