Assuming that the computer is bootable and you can get into Windows and
connect to the Internet..

What anti-virus product do you have?

If it is more than a year old, update it.
If it is the paid subscription type and the subscription has not been
maintained, uninstall it..

If you have no anti-virus protection, download and install either Avast 4
Home or Avira..

http://www.avast.com or http://www.avira.com

OK.. first, run Disk Cleanup to reduce the amount of temporary internet
files, temp files etc..

Download Malwarebytes..
http://malwarebytes.org/

Now download Spybot S&D..
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

Run each of them in whatever order..

As a matter of interest, why are you not able to do a destructive restore?

Five questions and points:

1. What virus?

2. How do you know you have it?

3. What anti-virus program do you run?

4. What do you mean by "System Recovery" and why can't you use it?

5. Of all the possible places to use for computer service, Best Buy is
very close to the worst. I don't recommend trusting them to do
*anything* to your computer.

It may just be malware.
I agree with Elmo.
Dl, install, update and run the two programs he suggested. Run each one
separately.
Download the free versions of each.
They also uninstall very cleanly and they will remove anything they find
just as well as the paid versions.
Even if they won't update (due to the infestation) at first, run them
anyways and you will probably be able to update after they finish removing
the malware.

PS: Those two programs are:
1)MalwareByte's Anti-Malware (MBAM for short)
2)SuperAntiSpyware (SAS for short)
If you use either of both programs, please post back with the results.
